Robert Kienböck (* January 11, 1871 in Vienna - † September 8, 1953 in Vienna) was a pioneer in radiodiagnostics and radiotherapy in Austria. Keinböck developed a method for ideal dosage of X-ray intensity (Kienböck quantimeter). The Kienböck's disease is named after him (lunatomalacia, an aseptic bone necrosis of the lunatic bone).

The exhibition in the library of the Gesellschaft der Ärzte shows original literature on these and other central fields of research of Robert Kienböck.

The opening of the exhibition was on June 27, 2012 in occasion of the event "20 years digital radiology" on the 65th birthday of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Walter Hruby.

    
 


Person details:

Kienböck graduated in 1895 at the University of Vienna. Later he worked as an assistant of Leopold von Schrötter.
He became director of the radiology departement of the Vienna General Hospital in 1904.
On October 1, 1925 he was named associate professor. He cofounded the "Wiener Röntgengesellschaft" (Radiology association of Vienna) together with Guido Holzknecht.
